What does your family think of your racing? Happy for me!

How many times have you

been to the Don Matthews? 3

Professional Life: Last 25 years with Catalyst Paper: Sales

Favorite Race Bike Growing up: Honda Elsinore
What was your first race, and what kind of bike was it? My first race was on a 1971 Yamaha Mini Enduro, Jaycee Rodeo Grounds, August 1972, Yuma, AZ

What would you like to take home that symbolizes your experience with racing here in the Don Matthews? The spirit of the event is truly phenomenal. Its family, its friends, its memories and passion for the sport of motocross! This year will be especially emotional with our founder Robin Hannah not there. But he certainly will be there in spirit!

I was riding a Taco mini bike when I was 7. Progressed to a Yamaha mini enduro/Honda XR 75/Honda Elsinore/Maicos. CA state 80cc mini champ 1974. AZ state 125 champion in 1975. Turned AMA pro at 16. My first AMA race was the 1977 Super Bowl of MX, Los Angeles Coliseum. My first heat race, to my right, Roger DeCoster, to my left Heikki Mikkola, talk about intimidation! Life got in the way and I was out of dirt bikes until about 10 years ago, now I can’t ride enough!

Hobbies (present or past)

Riding dirt bikes of course!
